The almighty Spectre was first unveiled just a couple years ago as the first all-electric Rolls-Royce. When designing this ultra-luxury EV, the minds behind the machine sought to create the finest electric grand tourer on the market while still remaining true to the unparalleled performance and style that the marque is known for. We’d say they succeeded with flying colors.
Never to rest on their laurels, the team at Goodwood have announced that the Spectre is finally getting the Black Badge treatment, and it promises to be the most powerful Roll-Royce ever. Here’s everything we know about it.
Black Badge Spectre Performance
Roll-Royce has been using the Black Badge designation for a while now, and it’s become synonymous with a notable increase in power in their already powerful vehicles. The Black Badge Spectre is no exception.
The Spectre was already one of the most audacious EVs anywhere. With the Black Badge edition, Rolls-Royce has pushed the envelope even further, bestowing it with up to 659 PS, or roughly 650 horsepower. It also boasts an insane 1,075 Nm, or about 793 pound-feet, of torque.
These boosted power specs are achievable thanks to two main powertrain upgrades, which are similar in theory to the technology found in aircraft powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine (seriously).
The first upgrade is a new Infinity Mode, which is designated by the (∞) button located on the steering wheel. With a single press, the full horsepower is unlocked for a short burst, illuminating the gauges and instantly imbuing the Black Badge Spectre with a little over 70 extra horsies to gallop with. Secondly, we have Spirited Mode, which enables a launch control-like setting that amplifies torque and allows the Black Badge Spectre a 0-60 run of just 4.1 seconds.
Those acceleration estimates may be an understatement, by the way. In their review, Car and Driver claimed that they could get the original Spectre from 0 to 60 in just 3.7 seconds, so the Black Badge Spectre may be even quicker than advertised. Time will tell once it starts shipping to customers in the near future.
Black Badge Spectre Features

Of course, the artists at Rolls-Royce are never content to simply slap in a bigger (electric) motor and call it a day. The Black Badge Spectre sports several other features that set it apart:
- Altered steering weight and roll stabilization for improved handling
- A new Vapour Violet paint finish
- A new Iced Black bonnet
- New 23-inch 5-spoke wheels
- A new “waft” coachline option
- A new Illuminated Grille backplate with newly available accent colors
- Signature Black Badge dark-finished accents
- A unique Infinity design for the Illuminated Fascia
- New color options for the instrument dials
- And more
